ANTONI MUNTADAS –
born in Barcelona, Spain in 1942 – has lived and worked in New York since 1971. His work addresses social, political and communications issues, the relashionship between public and private space within social frameworks, and investigations of channels of information and the ways they may be used to censor central information and promulgate ideas. He works in different media such as photography, video, publications, internet and multi-media installations.
His works have been exhibited throughout the world, including the Venice Biennial, Documenta VI and X in Kassel, the Sao Paulo Biennal, the Biennial of Lyon and La Havana and the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Berkeley Art Museum in California, the Wexner Arts Center in Columbus, Ohio, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Monreal, the CAPC of Bordeaux, France, the Museu of Arte Moderna of Rio de Janeiro in Brasil and Buenos Aires, Argentina, the Ludwig Museum in Budapest, Hungary and the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia in Madrid, and MACBA in Barcelona, Spain.
Coming shows include: the Museo de Arte Moderna in Buenos Aires, Opera Alberta in Puerto Alegre and Sandman and Haak in Hanover.
